San Jose: Police working on officer-involved shooting
“They’re looking at a person that’s going to reach for a gun that already has a warrant for murder, so we know that this person isn’t only capable, he’s already committed murder”, San Jose Police Department Information Officer Sgt. In the third, the suspect took his own life.
The suspect was struck by the gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident comes after San Jose police fired their guns at suspects in two separate incidents over the past week.
Police have not said what the officers were investigating prior the shooting, nor what crime the man killed by officers was suspected of committing.
The names of the involved officers have also not been released.
The shooting is under investigation by police and the Santa Clara County district attorney’s office. The most recent shooting was Sunday night when they encountered a suspect wanted in a homicide case.
At some time during the response, a San Jose police officer opened fire.
On August. 9, Edrian Rivera, 22, was shot and killed by two officers in the area of San Antonio Avenue and Packing Place.
“Shots fired”, an officer reported on the radio.
On August. 10, Aaron James Phillips, 30, who was reportedly intoxicated and armed at a home on San Marcos Drive, was shot at by officers.
