‘Star Wars’ themed land at planned at Disney parks
News about the expansion for Disney World has been making the rounds on the internet as of late, after the company announced something that fans have been considering to be really exciting during the 2015 D23 Expo.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, who previously helmed Godzilla and Monsters, the film will star Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelssohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed.
Disney also announced on Saturday that Colin Trevorrow, director of this summer’s megahit “Jurassic World“, will direct “Star Wars: Episode IX”.
It won’t be enough to set up a Star Wars themed land.
In Tomorrowland at Disneyland park, guests will explore the Star Wars galaxy with special entertainment, themed food locations and Hyperspace Mountain – a reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction in which guests will join an X-wing Starfighter battle.
After years of speculation, it was revealed during Disney’s annual D23 Expo that Disneyland Anaheim, California and Disney World Resort Orlando, Florida will receive a Star Wars-themed land.
While we’re obviously hoping for some new, less-sucky Star Wars films starting with The Force Awakens this winter, the real reason we all got excited for Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm is finally happening: Disney is building a Star Wars theme park. There will also be a Cantina and the chance to take control of the Millennium Falcon – one of the signature attractions. He’s an extraordinary character and brings in whole new multiple dimensions to the Marvel Universe…It [Doctor Strange] will be a mind-blowing experience.
“We are creating a jaw-dropping new world”, he said.
Aside for Chaiman Bob Iger, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams shared his excitement about the plan as well.
What’s important about the runtime is that it’s just three minutes longer than the first “Star Wars” film and the same length as “The Empire Strikes”. It will put visitors in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
