Breaking News: WWE Announces Celebrity Host for SummerSlam
Jon Stewart is no longer hosting The Daily Show, so now we get to see how he fares as the host of one of the biggest WWE events of the year. After Stewart taunted Rollins in an online video, Rollins appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart where he challenged Stewart to appear on Monday Night Raw to settle their score.
Cena is rumored to appear on RAW this week for the first time since suffering a broken nose by Rollins on the July 27 edition of the show.
The 28th edition of the company’s summer spectacular promises to be the biggest yet, with a jam-packed house at the Barclays Centre witnessing one of the most eagerly-awaited rematches in professional wrestling history, as the Deadman seeks revenge against the Beast who ended his legendary undefeated streak at Wrestlemania 30.
Stewart is a longtime professional wrestling fan, and WWE will undoubtedly use his high-profile appearance to boost subscriptions to its WWE Network 24/7 streaming service.
WWE has advertised that both Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker will be in the building tonight, which means the powder keg is ready to explode as soon as the show goes on the air.
WWE has gone out of its way to make this year’s SummerSlam a bigger event than usual. Celebs will also see Total Divas star John Cena go for another WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The nine main participants in this Divas Revolution will face off in a Triple Threat Elimination match at SummerSlam: Team Bella (Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Alicia Fox) vs. PCB (Paige, Charlotte, Becky Lynch) vs. Team B.A.D. Michaels made a triumphant return to the ring, beating his former friend by relying on brawler tactics and utilising the No Disqualifications rule to his advantage.
