Jeremy Scott Gives MTV’s Moonman a Designer Upgrade
MTV has decided to give their award a new look for its 2015 ceremony, via designer Jeremy Scott.
MTV took the wraps off a new version of its venerable Moonman trophy, which will be handed out at the upcoming Video Music Awards.
MTV has released a teaser clip displaying the new statue, with host Miley Cyrus waving the statues around in lieu of her middle finger.
The 40-year-old designer known for his ’90s-inspired patterns and whimsical sneaker collection for Adidas, has given MTV’s mascot a splash of color with the music network’s signature TV color bars, a peace sign necklace and sneakers. The Weeknd is slated to perform with additional talent set to be announced at a later date.
The VMAs will air in more than 160 countries and territories, reaching more than half a billion households around the world. Gucci, Alexander Wang, Fausto Puglisi, Prada, Miu Miu, Swarovski and Nicolas Jebran will also create costumes for the tour. Previously, she has partnered with Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix and Dolce & Gabbana for dramatic tour costumes.
