Ronaldo Souza vs. Yoel Romero Added To UFC 194
Perhaps the third time will be the charm for Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Yoel Romero. The bout could determine the next challenger for the UFC’s 185-pound belt, which will be defended by Chris Weidman against Luke Rockhold in the show’s co-headliner.
The two were originally slated to fight in February, but Souza contracted pneumonia and was forced to withdraw.
Featuring UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo against interim title holder Conor McGregor and UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman vs. Luke Rockhold, UFC 194 takes place December 12 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The Brazilian is now in the midst of an eight-fight win streak and has not lost in UFC to date (5-0). The shootout was rescheduled for April’s UFC on FOX 15 event, then Romero suffered a torn meniscus during training. He has finished five out of his last six fights, four coming by submission and one coming by knockout. The Souza-Romero matchup has been booked and canceled twice before. After healing up from his knee injury, Romero delivered a brutal KO win over Lyoto Machida in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Hollywood, Florida back in June.
Cross your fingers and hope the UFC’s final pay-per-view of 2015 stays intact.
