Morgan Freeman’s grandchild ‘murdered’
The man who fatally stabbed E’Dena Hines, the step-granddaughter of actor Morgan Freeman, has been charged with murder.
Lamar Davenport, 30, was arrested early Monday and charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing of actress E’dena Hines near her apartment building on West 162nd Street in Washington Heights.
Ray Rosario, a friend of Davenport’s who’d been out to dinner with the couple and others on Saturday night, told the Daily Beast that he’d never seen Hines as “ecstatic” as she was that night.
Police say Davenport was in a relationship with Hines.
On Sunday, Freeman issued a statement grieving the loss of his granddaughter:”The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer”.
According to his Facebook profile, he used to work for an Auto Parts shop and studied English Literature at New York University.
Hines is the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, to whom he was married from 1967 to 1979. Her boyfriend allegedly stabbed the young woman to death as he tried to cast devils out of her in the name of Jesus. A law enforcement source told the Post he had six prior arrests for drugs and petty larceny. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
“I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines”. May she rest in peace. One eyewitness saw everything unfold from his window.
“I go to my window and I see some people standing in the street watching something”, Tarafa said. “Then the police came like two police cars came and arrested the guy”.
