The First Star Wars: The Force Awakens Poster Reveals A MAJOR Spoiler!
Disney is to build two sprawling 14-acre Stars Wars-themed attractions, one at Disney World in Florida and the other at Disneyland in California, it has announced.
There’s no word on when Star Wars might be coming to Disney parks in Europe or Asia, but hopefully it’ll be soon. This announcement marks an unprecedented time of growth with exciting developments happening around the world – from Disneyland Resort’s Diamond Celebration to the anticipated opening of Shanghai Disney Resort in China.
Star Wars Launch Bay at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and at Disneyland takes visitors into the world of the new movie through special exhibits and behind-the-scenes peeks.
Since 1987, Disney parks have only had the Star Tours ride as their “Star Wars” themed attraction, and even that will be getting a facelift to reflect the new characters and worlds from December’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens“.
The event also featured appearances by Abrams and “Star Wars” icon Harrison Ford, who joined fellow cast members John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and Lupita Nyong’o on Saturday to unveil new artwork for “The Force Awakens“. “You’ve never seen a cantina like this before”. Already confirmed to be making it to the toys-to-life game include Finn and Rey, two of the major characters in the next “Star Wars” film installment. “We’re creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single theme land expansion ever”, he said.
Disney unveiled concept art for the new additions during the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center over the weekend.
The locations will also allow guests to ride the Millennium Falcon for a “climactic battle”. Iger further shared that Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012 did not stop at film rights but inevitably extended to bringing the epic sci-fi franchise “to every corner of the company”.
