Manchester City Beat Chelsea 3
The former Stoke No 1, playing in place of the suspended Thibaut Courtois, made several crucial saves against Manchester City but was unable to stop the Blues crumbling to a 3-0 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday.
In the second half Vincent Kompany headed in a David Silva corner and midfielder Fernandinho thumped past Asmir Begovic from the edge of the box to secure three points. Mourinho also claimed that his side was the best team by far in the second half of the lopsided match.
Mourinho was strong in his belief that the scoreline flattered City.
Chelsea ensured a troubled build-up to the game after a week of headlines dominated by manager Jose Mourinho’s row with two of his medical staff.
“I thought (Eliaquim) Mangala was superb today as he was last week, then I thought Fernandinho and Yaya (Toure) gave us a lot of support and Bacary (Sagna) and (Aleksandar) Kolarov were solid as ever so those are the things that make our job enjoyable”, Kompany told City’s website.
“If the 1-0 was a doubtful result at minute 70, 3-0 is completely fake”, said the Chelsea manager. It was just a decision.
Meanwhile, Kompany put his team’s triumph down to their ability to take their chances.
However, despite the change, the Portuguese reiterated his total support of his skipper.
“He is a player who has my total trust, there is no doubt about it”, Mourinho added.
“The second half was a different story”.
“There’s still so much more to come”.
“I don’t expect it to go on for too long but I am probably more happy about the two clean sheets”, he said.
Chelsea have conceded five goals in their first two Premier League games and Begovic is keen to get back to winning ways, starting with their visit to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
Pellegrini felt the result should have been more convincing. [The result] was very satisfying because it’s not easy to beat the champions. C’mon, City! – Sergio Kun Aguero (@aguerosergiokun) August 16, 201555.000 fans, wonderful support and a great team performance, I call that a good day. “I think Mourinho’s trying to force the owner’s hand to go and buy John Stones”.
Manchester City welcomed the defending champions to the Etihad and triumphiantly sent them packing with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Chelsea.
“The first 45 minutes from Aguero were unbelievable”, said Pellegrini.
