Previously, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said at Disney’s press conference that Derrickson’s “Doctor Strange” will see the sights of the ethereal realm of supernatural beings. “Civil War” and “Doctor Strange” will be the first two Marvel movies slated for a 2016 release.
There were so many goodies for the fans at the D23 Expo, and Disney’s tease on the upcoming “Doctor Strange” movie was one of those that definitely did not disappoint.
It will be exciting to see how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will progress after Phase II. Here’s what Mr. Cumberbatch had to say about his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As for the part for Strange’s leading lady, it still remains open, although that might go to “The Notebook” star Rachel McAdams, who is reportedly in talks with the studio for the role.
The concept art trailer has not been released publicly and no confirmation is out on whether Marvel plans to do so.
The British actor played Kahn in “Star Trek: Into Darkness” in 2013, but he was at D23 to promote a Marvel superhero movie, “Doctor odd”. The actor wasn’t able to appear at D23, yet as Mashable notes, he sent along a video message to fans, expressing his excitement at tackling the character.
Benedict Cumberbatch might be smart, but he’s easily confused, as demonstrated in this special video message from D23.
Until the Expo, fans knew that Benedict Cumberbatch would be playing lead and that Tilda Swinton had been cast as The Ancient one, a decision that ruffled some feathers because, in the comics, the character is male.
“(It will be a) mind-blowing experience… In Doctor unusual, the film will reach that goal by introducing the audience to the idea of astral projection into multiple dimensions. “The usual”, added Cumberbatch who could not attend the event because of commitments with “Hamlet“.
The film is set to hit U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016.
