Massachusetts police seek help identify little girl found dead June 25
Police in Massachusetts are struggling to identify a young girl who was found dead in a plastic bag last week.
A woman walking her dog on the island discovered the body on June 25.
State police, local police and the District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
It’s not even clear how the tragic girl, thought to be about four years old, died. She had brown eyes and brown hair that was about 14 inches long. Inside were the girl’s remains.
People working at a nearby business have offered to raise money to pay for a funeral for the little girl and are planning to plant a tree and build a bench in her memory. With her inside the bag was a black and white zebra-patterned fleece blanket.
She was found washed up on the Boston Harbour shoreline. She was found wearing Circo brand white leggings with black polka dots, size 4T.
The cause of death has not been determined.
“Some caretaker, preschool teacher, pediatrician, social worker, neighborhood children and community member somewhere, has to know who she is”, the center said in a post on its Facebook page.
“Maybe ask a few questions to see where that child may be”, Hughes said. Procopio said police do not believe the body found on Deer Island belongs to Ayla Reynolds, who went missing from her Maine bedroom in December, 2011; Aliayah Lunsford, who disappeared from her West Virginia home the same year; or Caleigh Harrison, who vanished from a Rockport beach in 2012.
“No bit of information is too small if you have it”, Conley said.
