Chris Evans to star in Marc Webb’s ‘Gifted’
Webb will helm “Gifted” for Fox Searchlight with Captain America himself Chris Evans putting down the shield to star in the movie.
Meanwhile, over at Fox 2000, the long brewing “The Only Living Boy In New York” is coming together. Jeff Bridges (R.I.P.D.) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) are in talks to round out the cast.
The Fox Searchlight film about a man (Evans) who tries to raise the brilliant young daughter of his dead sister will shoot in the fall. But Gifted, written by Tom Flynn, isn’t actually about people with extraordinary strength or the ability to fly. Shooting is slated to begin this fall, making Gifted Webb’s next movie. That one has Miles Teller (who probably wants to forget his own recent superheroic experience) attached to star. The film will began shooting next year. Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa are producing, with John Fogel serving as executive producer. But now that that iteration of the franchise has ended, it looks like he’s swinging back to indie films.
Evans can next be seen reprising his role as Steve Rogers in “Captain America: Civil War“. But he hasn’t let that stop him from tackling interesting non-Cap projects. He recently starred and made his directorial debut in the Sundance drama “Before We Go” opposite Alice Eve.
