Dayton Flyers part of ESPN Tip-Off Marathon in November
This marks the second consecutive year the Tigers and Buffaloes have been a part of ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon as the game was played in Boulder last season. It’ll be a highly anticipated event in the Washington D.C. area and should be one nationally too, with the teams’ proximity and success mixing with the sheer curiosity of the matchup.
Other SEC teams playing in the marathon include Alabama, Auburn and Kentucky.
Baylor will be the first league squad to take the court as part of the event, traveling to Oregon on Monday, November 16 for a game at 10:30 p.m. Connecticut. The Bears and Ducks will be meeting for the first time.
GW also defeated #11 Wichita State on ESPN2 in the Diamond Head Classic Championship Game last season. ESPN’s College Gameday will broadcast live from inside the arena in the lead-up to that match up with the Duke-Kentucky tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. Colorado advanced to the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational. Both Duke and UVA figure to be ranked in the top ten when preseason rankings are released in the fall. It’s a shame. It was one of the great games in Terrapin history. Maybe this was an unavoidable occurrence of each of the three games needing to place on that Wednesday night – but if that was the case, why not put Maryland and Georgetown as a 5 p.m. ET undercard?
Last season GW went 6-2 in eight games on the ESPN family of networks, including 2-1 at home.
