Oceanside Woman Charged With Murdering Mother
Nassau County Police reports the arrest of Suzan Grossman-Kerner, 56, of Oceanside for Murder that occurred on Monday, August 17 in Oceanside. Grossman-Kerner’s attorney, Todd Greenberg, said she was very distraught.
They say Grossman-Kerner was the one who called 911 shortly after 1 p.m. Monday and claimed her mother had been assaulted; she was at the scene when police arrived.
Det. Capt. John Azzata, commanding officer of the Nassau Homicide Squad, said police were working with the district attorney’s office on filing charges. Upon arrival they discovered a female victim, Irma Grossman, 79, whom resided at the address, with a neck wound. Authorities say the daughter became enraged for some reason and attacked her mother. He would not identify the victim or the suspect.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead about two hours later.
Azzata declined to detail her injuries and said more information would be released Tuesday morning. “My mom’s doing OK, she’s just shook up”, Panzarella said.
She said detectives interviewed her about what she heard.
Residents flooded the sidewalks along Terrell Avenue and spoke in small groups – shocked, they said, that someone had been killed there. The woman she’s accused of killing has been described as a “beloved grandmother”, police say.
