Anne Hathaway to star in ‘The Ambassador’s Wife’
According to Deadline, Anne Hathaway is set to star in the limited series The Ambassador’s Wife coming from Entertainment One and the Mark Gordon Co.
The Ambassador’s Wife is represented by CAA for TV and Brettne Bloom at The Book Group for publishing.
Variety reports that the story for this limited television series will come from Jennifer Steil’s novel.
The show is based on a novel by Jennifer Steil where a British women is kidnapped in Yemen which sets off problems for her husband, an ambassador.
Of course, Hathaway is just the latest movie star to head to television through a limited series part instead of a regular series role, which would require a much longer commitment.
“The Ambassador’s Wife” is the first to fall under the recently announced independent studio formed by The Mark Gordon Company and Entertainment One (eOne) to finance and produce premium film, television and digital content, which eOne will distribute internationally. “We’re so fortunate to have Anne starring in this well timed, gripping, & compassionate drama”. She is in a league all her own and we cannot think of anyone who can better portray Steil’s complex heroine’. The Oscar victor for Les Miserables is still working on films and will next be seen in The Intern with Robert De Niro.
No network is now attached, but there’s likely to be a bidding war among interested parties given Hathaway’s box office success.
CAA put the pieces of the deal together on behalf of clients Hathaway and the book.
