Ag Commissioner Shares Facebook Post Advocating Bombing To Make ‘Peace With
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, whose Facebook page is usually filled with farm jokes and extremely patriotic quotes, has recently come under fire for a social media post that proposes bombing the “Muslim world” in the name of peace. However, the official has taken a defiant stance and has refused to back down so far.
This is not the first time he has made anti-Muslim remarks – he shared in January that he cannot sleep at night because of concerns that the United States will become a “Muslim country”, according to the Dallas Morning News.
It was shared from the page “The Patriots IV Drip 2” with the hashtags #noislamknowpeace and #COMETAKE.
The post was shared on Miller’s Facebook page over the weekend but was removed Monday. He added that Miller’s critics should demand an apology from Islamic terrorists, Iran and US President Barack Obama.
Smith said Miller didn’t personally share the post but won’t begin a “witch hunt” to find out who on his staff did. Smith also pointed out the many positive comments the post generated.
He estimated that about 18 people have access to the campaign account.
The Texas Republican Party said it does usually comment on individual member’s posts.
Smith said Monday that Miller was not advocating for any atomic bombings, even if the post was “thought-provoking”. The date refers to the second atomic bomb the U.S. dropped on Japan to end World War II.
Texas Democrats are demanding an apology from Miller. Sadly, this kind of racist, xenophobic hate speech qualifies you for higher office with Republicans’ Tea Party fringe base…
Miller, a professional rodeo calf-roper and former state lawmaker, is now in China for what his office described as a trade mission.
The Facebook photo posted on Sunday night shows a mushroom cloud rising up through the air after the explosion of an atomic bomb with a text saying “Japan has been at peace with the US since August 9, 1945”.
