BJP MP Hema Malini injured in road accident – Kaumudi

Four-year-old daughter of Hanuman, Sonam, succumbed to injuries on way to hospital in Dausa, while four others Hanuman, his wife Shikha (35), Somil (5), and Seema (40), were shifted to Jaipur’s SMS hospital, the SHO said.

NDTV quoted police officials as saying that the BJP leader’s vehicle was speeding and hit the Maruti Alto leading to the death of the girl who was travelling with her parents. Malini was on her way back to Jaipur after a trip to the Mehendipur Balaji temple in Karauli district.

“The accident took place as the other auto was coming from the wrong side”, physiotherapist in a private hospital Dr. Shiv Sharma said.

Television reports state that upon reaching the hospital, Hema Malini herself walked in and did not require a stretcher indicating that her injuries are perhaps not serious in nature.

An eyewitness said “The child who has died was in the Alto, was a resident of Lal Chowk”. The incident happened on Thursday and she is joined in the hospital. She was also treated for a minor fracture on her nose. The actress was later admitted to Fortis Hospital and is said to be stable.

The injured family was first taken to a government hospital in Dausa.

A doctor reported “She was coherent, which is always a good sign. Imaging tests will be carried out to rule out any internal injury”.

“She had lacerations in para-nasal area and on forehead near the right eyebrow”, P Tamboli, facility director at Fortis said.

There were five people including two children and two women in the Alto auto. “Thankfully, the doctor took them to the hospital”, he added. The family is even more hurt that neither the actor nor her aides bothered to ask about their well-being though, they say, the accident was caused by her speeding vehicle.

Visuals of the accident have been shared on social media and TV screens globally.

Television images showed Ms Malini, 66, holding a handkerchief to her bloodied forehead.

“Deeply saddened…I pray for the victims. We’re making all efforts to provide immediate relief & medical care”.

A team of specialists was attending to her, he said.
