Mum asks for ‘blonde girl’ on birthday cake, receives something entirely different
A woman received an unexpected birthday surprise after her mother came home with a celebratory cake featuring a rather unconventional topper.
However, she failed to notice her iPhone’s autocorrect facility had changed “blond” to “blind” Marie only found out when her pal delivered the cake to her home in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, on Friday.
Blind? Blonde? What’s the difference really.
Marie Seggie had explicitly asked her friend to make the figure blonde.
But for one mum in Scotland, it inadvertently resulted in the creation of one of the greatest cakes that we’ve ever seen.
“We were a bit confused why there was a blind girl on top but then mum told us the mistake she had made with autocorrect”. “At first my sister wanted to take it off but then decided to keep it on”.
I guess we all learned a clear and simple lesson here today, and that lesson is British people think certain things are funnier than blindness is serious.
Thanks to an autocorrect blunder, Laura Seggie celebrated her 21st birthday with a cake that had a wee blind girl on top – rather than the “blonde” girl requested.
‘We all just laughed about it. I uploaded it on Twitter and it just went insane.
The image has since gone viral, having been retweeted 7,617 times and “favourited” 11,963 times.
We’ve all experienced that feeling of embarrassment when the auto-correct setting on our phone means that we accidentally end up sending a message that’s excruciatingly awkward.
