Misfit and Speedo are trying to build a better swim tracker
Misfit and Speedo have joined hands to create a new version of the Shine button-sized fitness tracker, aimed at recording underwater activities. The major difference with the Speedo Shine is that in addition to being able to take standard Misfit sensor readings, it can also count how many lengths you’ve done, with the algorithm keeping track no matter what stroke you use.
The wrist worn Speed Shine will be available worldwide from 1 September for $80 which is about £52.
The swim-focused tracker has the same hardware as Misfit Shine, but the firmware is different, Misfit Director of Communications Amy Puliafito told MobiHealthNews.
Speedo Shine is endorsed by elite Speedo athlete, fitness ambassador, and Olympic Gold Medalist Missy Franklin. When wearing the Speedo Shine swimmers can expect to utilize the unique technology inside the device to track things like lap counts, and Misfit states that it will be capable of working for any swimmer as it supports all types of swim strokes. (The Speedo Shine tracks a range of dry land activities including running, cycling, tennis and yoga.). So if you’re a casual swimmer who’s just curious about how much time they have spent in the pool or how many calories they have burned, the original version of the Shrine will probably still suit your needs. The device will soon also work with Speedo’s personalized swim tracking app, Speedo Fit. It runs off a basic watch battery that lasts for up to six months, and syncs directly to your phone via Bluetooth – no dongles or a computer necessary. There’s just a new Speedo private sun light boring colors identified as “Pure” despite the fact that couple of hobby resistance bands – black and white – a grasp and an Action Clip will likely transport inside of the package when using the shadow.
Misfit invents and manufactures wearable and smart home products.
Speedo has teamed up with Misfit to dip its toes into the world of activity tracking. It is priced at $79.99.
