“Abusive” parrot summoned, detained by Indian police
However, when the local police, in a bid to investigate the odd case provoked Hariyal to use abusive words, it chose to remain silent.
The woman, 85-year old Janabai, filed a complaint with the police that the parrot, owned by her stepson Suresh Sakharkar, had been trained to insult her.
At the station was 85-year-old Janabai Sakharkar who, according to a DNA report, had accused one Suresh of teaching his pet parrot “Hariyal” abuses that it used to hurl on her whenever she passed by his house.
The mother and the son are living separately due to a property dispute.
This Indian parrot has a mouth on him – at least that’s what this woman, named Janabai, told police in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
“?I am being harassed for the last two years”. That is why I have complained three times in the last two years. Taking action on the complaint, police has summoned her son, the neighbor and the parrot to police station.
Police said they decided not to return Hariyal to his owner and instead put the bird in the care of forest department officials for rehabilitation. “We watched the parrot but it did not utter a word at the police station”, said police inspector P.S. Dongre.
