Behind the scenes, Cruz has been methodologically developing Trump’s support. Even then, though, they’d probably try to exclude him. Cruz is playing the long game and hopes that if he survives and Trump doesn’t, the billionaire will swing to him.
FOX10 News caught up with Darby Luxenberg, Treasurer for the Mobile County Democratic Executive Committee, who said while she’s glad Trump’s visit will put Mobile on the map, she’s not exactly impressed with his campaign thus far. In that scenario, Trump throws his support behind his ideological soul mate. “[He] entices the very same varieties of voter”. If and when Trump leaves the race, every possibility exists that his followers would transfer their allegiance to Cruz.
The scenario even works, sort of, if Trump holds on until the convention.
The relationship has proved to be mutually beneficial for the two presidential candidates, but Cruz stands to benefit the most. And there’s no reason, with this guy hovering at around 25-30 percent in the polls, to think that most of the remaining 70-75 percent of Republicans won’t line up behind “Not Trump”.
Christie, who has a long-time acquaintance with Trump, is hedging his bets.

“So I guess I haven’t made any mistakes”, he said as the children shifted their weight and tried to be patient. The Cruz campaign declined to comment.
“I can vote in local elections in two years”, he said.
Palin was asked if there were any other candidates she has the same enthusiasm for as Trump. It’s a very serious question. “That has certainly set the senator apart from the other candidates who have been critical of Trump, and by association critical of Trump’s supporters as well”. “Heck, I’m glad they are all running”. Trump replied, “I am Batman”.
“O.K., Ana, I don’t mean to be rude here”.
Following their first run-in, discussions began about a more formal meeting.
Cruz met last week with about 100 people at the “Wildcatters Club”, the political arm of the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association, according to the Associated Press.
The businessman spoke to reporters while campaigning in Iowa and did not mince words about the vexing nature of money in politics.
