Ighalo Still Part Of My Plans, Oliseh Insists
The Super Eagles handler pointed out that he will always be physically involved in the training to enable them to understand his football philosophy as quickly as possible.
These 18 individuals will be complimented by a number of local-based players who were announced a few weeks ago, combining to create a strong Super Eagles outfit with the aim of qualifying to take on Africa’s best in Gabon at the beginning of 2017.
‘The locally-based players are already in Abuja, now the preparations can truly begin for Mr Oliseh and his players’.
“More importantly, we have Emenike and Ujah in that position and, if need be, we may like to play two of them”, he said. “We know that Nigeria are one of the big teams in Africa”.
The coach recalled the last time he faced Nigeria as a player in a World Cup qualifier inside the National Stadium in Lagos, saying, “I knew Nigeria when I was a player that was the time we played the Eagles in Lagos”. It’s our session and what we are doing is to introduce to them how we want to play.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’re home or abroad, I believe we can solve the problem in those positions”.
“We have to get everybody on ground first but we are also realistic because we have to get the train on track first; so, we are starting gradually”, Oliseh explained. I’m expecting my foreign based players as soon as the FIFA free day draws nearer.
The Taifa Stars lost their first game of the qualifying series to the Pharaohs of Egypt 0-3 when Mart Nooij was Coach.
