AAA expects millions to travel for July 4th, offers free towing – WAFF
This July 4th holiday weekend, the AAA Auto Club has teamed up with Bud Light for their “Tow to Go” program which offers a confidential ride home to driver’s who have a few too many to drink.
Call 1-800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) for a free ride home within a 15-mile radius from the point of pick up. Also, as a last resort, AAA Texas will offer a free community service called Tipsy Tow, which aims to keep drunken drivers off the road.
AAA stresses that it does not condone drinking and driving and encourages all people to act responsibly to keep drunk drivers off the road.
Independence Day weekend is usually heavy on the booze and traffic, so this is one of the best times to take advantage of this service.
The Tipsy Tow program is open to everyone. Impaired drivers can get themselves and their vehicle home safely free of charge up to 10 miles. The vehicle must be operable to qualify for a free tow.
Ensure all guests have a ride to and from their destination in a vehicle driven by a non-drinking designated driver.
According to AAA, you can expect 41.9 million people to drive or fly this weekend.
Do not serve alcohol to anyone under age 21.
Have a backup plan to spend the night at the party instead of driving home under the influence.
“The Tow to Go program is an effective way to promote the use of Designated Drivers and help prevent impaired driving”, said Kathy Casso, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for Anheuser-Busch.
