Aer Lingus offically accepts IAG takeover offer
The shares are slightly underperforming the benchmark FTSE 100 index which has slipped 0.80 percent into the red to stand at 6,474.09 points. Aer Lingus shareholders who have not yet accepted the Offer are encouraged to do so without delay.
British Airways owner global Airlines Group (IAG) has confirmed its deal to acquire Aer Lingus after Ryanair formally agreed to sell its 30% share in Aer Lingus.
Aer Lingus is to become part of worldwide Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) after securing acceptance for its €1.4 billion takeover offer from more than 95% of Aer Lingus shareholders.
“We d like to welcome Aer Lingus into IAG”, said the group s chief executive Willie Walsh.

The offer will remain open until September 1.
As the offer is now wholly unconditional, AERL Holding will request Aer Lingus to apply for cancellation of its listings by the Irish Stock Exchange and UK Listing Authority and the trading of its shares on those exchanges.
