Lancashire cricketer injured in ‘incident’ at Ashford bar while celebrating
The Lancashire team were staying in Ashford, a short drive from Kent’s Canterbury ground.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Livingstone accidentally knocked into a man stood nearby, but was struck by a glass before he could apologise, leaving him with blood pouring from his head.
A witness, who was drinking in the bar with friends, said he apologised immediately but the other man took offence.
Earlier this year Livingstone hit 350 off 138 balls for his club side, Nantwich Town, which is one of the highest individual scores in one day history.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the bar.
A witness said: “They were mucking around, being lads”.
England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and Lancashire coach Ashley Giles were both part of the celebrations that eventually soured, resulting in Livingstone receiving approximately 20 stitches in his face.
A Lancashire membership assertion learn: “LCCC is conscious of an incident that occurred on Saturday night involving a few of our gamers”.
He added: “The matter is now being investigated by the police and nobody from the club will be making any further comment at this stage”.
A spokeswoman for Kent Police said: “Kent Police received a report of a disturbance at 11.57pm on Saturday, August 15”.
Several media outlets are claiming Livingstone, 22, was attacked and sustained an injury to his head.
But his celebration with team-mates was soured when trouble flared at The Auction House Bar in Ashford after another drinker took exception to being bumped into just before midnight.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident”.
