Blasts near government offices rock Egypt’s Cairo
A national security building in Egypt’s capital of Cairo was the target of a bombing early Thursday morning, according to Egyptian officials.
Ambulances are reportedly attending the scene in the Shubra neighbourhood of the Egyptian capital.
Reports from Cairo say an explosion has been heard across the city.
Glass from blown-out windows could be seen on the streets for blocks around the site of the blast.
Egyptian state TV said three bombs exploded in the vicinity of the state security building.
A new anti-terrorism law was finalised this month.
There have been several bomb attacks by Islamist militants in Cairo this year.
The law has come under fire from human rights groups that accuse Sisi of rolling back freedoms won in the 2011 uprising that toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak.
