Brooklyn Bridge Selfie Taker Being Held as a “Fugitive From New York”
David Paul Karnauch, 21, is being held at the Hamilton County Jail as a “fugitive from New York”.
The Brooklyn Bridge has been the subject of several high-profile trespassing incidents in the past year, which led to the New York City Department of Transportation to install new barriers to prevent people from climbing to the top of the span.
David Karnauch was arrested Monday in his home state of Tennessee on a reckless endangerment charge.
Selfie taking has quickly escalated from a fun way to document a moment without asking a stranger to take your picture, to a social challenge to document just how insane, unusual or wonderful a photo you can take. “Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office picked him up on Sunday on that warrant”.
Hopefully the authorities also seized Karnauch’s selfie stick.
Karnauch had climbed onto a beam of the Brooklyn bridge and clicked a selfie before the July 4th weekend. (“Most likely tomorrow”, police say.) Depending on that administering, the litigant could be venturing out to Brooklyn to be handled in a neighborhood court inside of the following couple of days.
Back when Karnauch uploaded the photo, NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism John J. Miller held a heated news conference to address the epic selfie, according to NBC New York. “I don’t recommend anybody else do it. It’s not a smart thing to do because I know they take security on the bridges seriously”.
