Phillies’ Maikel Franco possibly done for season with fractured wrist

Phillies third-baseman Maikel Franco is headed for the 15-day disabled list the team announced on Tuesday.

Franco will wear a brace on his left wrist for the next 2-3 weeks and then be re-evaluated. But he has been out of the lineup since.

In 77 games for the Phillies, he batted. The third baseman had forced his way into the conversation with a slash line of.277/.340/.490 with 13 homers, 48 RBIs and 22 doubles in 325 plate appearances.

The Phillies recalled righthanded-hitting outfielder Aaron Altherr from Lehigh Valley to take Franco’s place on the active roster. 294 in 51 games, with eight home runs, 38 RBIs and an OPS of.858. “If it looks like it’s affecting his approach offensively then we might make an adjustment”.
