Severe thunderstorm watch issued for most of the Tri
“We should see scattered showers and weak thunderstorms this morning, but stronger and more widespread storms in the afternoon and evening”.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected for most of Wednesday in southeast Michigan and some of those could be severe, according to the National Weather Service. It did note that wind gusts got up to 60 miles per hour in Gardner in Grundy County, and there were reports of flooding in the area. “There could be some hail, but it’s mainly the wind we’re watching”.
Storms this afternoon are well below severe limits, but the stronger ones are producing torrential rain and a good bit of lightning.
Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms.
Anybody in the storm path should move to an interior room in the lowest part of the building, the weather service says. Heavy rainfall is expected, with one to two inches of rain in the forecast by early Wednesday morning.
Again, rain is possible across much of the state. That’s about 10 degrees cooler than the average high for this time of year in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
