14-year-old autistic boy breaks off a national anthem for the ages
Sox supporters gave Duffley a tremendous reception, which clearly calmed his nerves and allowed him to sing a rock-solid rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner“.
A blind boy with autism wowed a crowd of baseball fans with his voice after standing up to sing America’s national anthem in the middle of a huge stadium.
Christopher Duffley, 14, stole the show yesterday evening before a Boston Red Sox game.
This is just another reason why we love sports.
Duffley originates from Manchester, New Hampshire, and came out to the game as a representative for Autism Speaks.
Duffley was born prematurely and weighed a little over one-pound at the time of birth. Soon after, he was also rendered blind due to Retinopathy of Prematurity.
He paused before starting the anthem when the microphone didn’t appear to be working.
