‘Star Wars’ John Boyega Lands Lead In James Ponsoldt’s ‘The Circle’
John Boyega is going from Star Wars to James Ponsoldt’s adaptation of the Dave Eggers novel The Circle.
John Boyega, star of the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is set to join some illustrious company after signing on to appear in The Circle, Deadline reports. He’ll chew scenery opposite Emma Watson and Tom Hanks.
Boyega plays Ty, described as “the iconized boy-wonder visionary of the Circle” who embarks on a relationship with one of his employees (Watson) as the “perils of life in a digital age inevitably arise”. As Mae tours the open-plan office spaces, the towering glass dining facilities, the cozy dorms for those who spend nights at work, she is thrilled with the company’s modernity and activity.
Action figures of Stormtrooper characters set to be included in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode 7 “The Force Awakens” film were put on display at the recent Comic-Con global conference, revealing new information about their plot roles. There are parties that last through the night, there are famous musicians playing on the lawn, there are athletic activities and clubs and brunches, and even an aquarium of rare fish retrieved from the Marianas Trench by the CEO.
The film is created by Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone, together with Anthony Bregman, Ponsoldt, Walter Parkes and Laurie Macdonald of Parkes and lastly MacDonald Image Nation.
He will also act as producer alongside Hanks, with filming expected to begin next month.
