1 dead, 3 injured when vehicle hits child’s wagon
All were taken to area hospitals, where one of the children died.
Jairisa Galindo, 18, was pulling Jyonshiel and Kahariel Martinez, 6, in a wagon, according to police, while John Giles, 8, was walking next to them.
The posted speed limit is 45 miles per hour; there are no sidewalks or shoulders, and there are no street lights.
Southampton >> A two-year-old was killed and three more people were critically injured after being hit by a auto while walking along a rural township road, according to the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Unit. Mahya Martinez, 13, was with the group, but was not struck.
The five live in the same apartment complex in Southampton, but Jones could not say whether they are related, even though three share the same last names.
Jyonsheil Martinez was transported to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Police said the accident remains under investigation.
Police said they did not know where the group was coming from or going to since that was not part of their investigation. “So we came running out and we saw them lying on the grass and in the road”.
Paul O’Neill tells WPVI-TV (http://6abc.cm/1E4SfzO ) he and his wife heard a loud boom and he found two children lying on the side of the street and a girl in the middle of the street.
“They had their whole lives ahead of them. It was very hard to see”, Cheryl O’Neil said.
