Ranchi SSP injured; driver, Maoist commander killed in gunfight
According to the police, Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar, who was injured in the gun battle in Khuti district, was rushed to a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
According to officials, Kumar had specific inputs about a gathering of CPI (Maoist) cadres in Dulia forests of Khunti district near Ranchi border.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh today spoke to Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar and enquired about his health after he was injured in an encounter with Naxals.
Police said Prabhat Kumar along with a police team went on an operation after receiving information about the presence of a few Maoists in the area.
When the police team reached the spot, the Maoists surrounded them and started firing at the police vehicle.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (Ranchi range), Arun Kumar, said one AK-47 rifle was recovered from the spot and added that around eight Maoists who had gathered there.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared out of danger. The CM asked the authorities to ensure proper treatment of the injured policemen and announced ’10 lakh compensation money to the dependent of the martyred jawan alongwith free education to his kids.
He called on the injured SSP and his bodyguard, Mohammad Faizal, at Bhagaban Mahaveer Medical Hospital in Ranchi.
