Trump’s biggest competition in North Carolina? Deez Nuts
Yes, Deez Nuts is running for president. But when compared to the two main political parties’ frontrunners, he’s polling at 9 percent. Thirty-eight percent chose Clinton, 40 percent chose Trump, and 9 percent picked Nuts. And his campaign is only growing as “Deez Nuts” became a trending topic on Twitter Wednesday.
Nuts has 7% polling in his home state, while carrying 8% with his northern neighbor, Minnesota.
The FEC requires only a single page of basic information from prospective candidates and does not verify the identities of those who seek to run. That would explain why a Buffalo student named George Boria was able to register “Sydneys Voluptuous Buttocks” for the 2016 race. The newest survey of N.C. shows Trump has risen steeply to 24 percent, while all others are lagging behind.
Polling at an impressive 9 percent, Candidate Nuts is now leading Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina, and Mike Huckabee in the polls and is neck and nut with Marco Rubio for the Republican nomination. In a hypothetical head to head match up with Hillary Clinton, in the swing state of North Carolina, Trump leads 45-42. Young voters, men and African-Americans post the highest favorability numbers for Nuts, according to the Public Policy Poll, which helpfully and exhaustively included Nuts in several categories of questions. 477 Democratic primary voters and 406 Republican primary voters were polled and the margin of error for the overall survey was +/-3.2%.
