New York Jets Geno Smith sustains broken jaw following teammate punch
Enemkpali was released by the Jets following the incident.
The incident clearly rattled and angered many Jets players, who were stunned that something of this nature happened in their locker room.
“It was nothing to do with football….” It was something very childish. As of Tuesday, Smith hadn’t; which led to a confrontation between the two, and Enemkpali threw a punch at Smith, fracturing his jaw. He has a broken jaw, fractured jaw.
Bowles told reporters that Smith was “sucker-punched” by linebacker IK Enemkpali, with the NFL website reporting that the fight was over money. “If you have a team and you have a bunch of side issues, you can’t tolerate that”, Bowles said.
“I have no regrets of things that I’ve done”, Newton said.
I suppose the only consolation in this whole process is that maybe, if Carter’s cluelessness persists, Smith will get angry enough to take a swing at him.
Brian Costello of the New York Post reported similar facts, adding that Enemkpali was upset over Smith’s inability to attend and also sought reimbursement for a limousine, which Smith agreed to do. “It’s something very childish that sixth graders could have talked about and it had no reason to happen. I told them I wouldn’t say anything, I’m going to leave it there”.
Then Enemkpali asked Geno Smith to reimburse him. The Jets had no comment when reached by CNN.
At this time, it is unclear why Ikemefuna Enemkpali punched Smith. If Enemkpali were to sign with a different team, he could face discipline under the league’s policy, as this is considered an incidence of workplace violence. Per court records, Enemkpali received a suspended jail sentence and was put on 13 months’ probation.
Coach Todd Bowles made the announcement during an impromptu news conference before training camp practice was scheduled to start. Now those hopes will lie with Ryan Fitzpatrick, a journeyman from that well-known football colossus, Harvard University. Our quarterback is sitting at home with a broken jaw, we have an outside linebacker that isn’t with us anymore.
