Arkansas dismisses Jacorey Williams after multiple offseason incidents
The group now faces even more pressure following the injury to running back Jonathan Williams, who will miss at least the regular season with a left foot injury.
Williams was one of three players that was arrested and charged with forgery stemming from a series of incidents where the players were alleged to have been caught using counterfeit money.
Razorbacks Coach Mike Anderson announced Wednesday that Williams has been dismissed from the team. His former girlfriend, Essence Singleton, and the bouncer, Bryan Jones, have not pressed charges.
Williams has not been arrested for either assault. Returning starter Anton Beard and recent transfer Dustin Thomas were also arrested during a forgery investigation in late July.
“We wish him the best as he pursues his future away from Razorback Basketball”. He played in 96 games during his three-year career, averaging 3.8 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per contest.
Williams’ absence may put an additional load on Alex Collins, who was second on the team in rushing last season with 1,100 yards. They all denied knowing the bills were fake.
Williams, Beard and Thomas have an arraignment hearing Monday in Washington County Circuit Court.
