American Airlines Announces Flights to Divers Paradise

Partnering with tour operator Cuba Travel Services, based in Cypress, the airline will offer Saturday flights on Boeing 737s out of Los Angeles global Airport beginning in December. There are 12 categories of travelers who can visit Cuba: those visiting family, doing official business of the U.S. government or some intergovernmental organizations, those going to do journalistic, educational and religious work and professional research among other categories.

On Friday, the American flag was raised over the reopened US Embassy in Havana for the first time in 54 years at a ceremony led by Secretary of State John Kerry. An embargo remains in place against Cuba and can only be lifted by Congress.

Neither the White House nor the State Department immediately responded to TheBlaze Tuesday.

“We are interested in providing scheduled service from multiple U.S. cities as soon as legally permitted”, she said.

Our reconciliation with Cuba is happening fast. Getting to Cuba isn’t as simple as hopping on a website and booking airfare to, say, Miami or Aruba because regularly scheduled commercial flights between the U.S. and Cuba still do not exist. American has provided charter flights to Cuba since 1991.
