GCSE joy as Denby secondary pupils achieve best ever results
Luton’s Shared Learning Trust is celebrating after a strong set of GCSE results from itsacademies with some pleasing improvements seen at the South and West Academies.
Foyle College reported “smiles all round” as their results improved year on year once again.
Headteacher Simon Jackson said: “These brilliant results are down to the efforts of our highly motivated and exceptionally talented students and staff. They reflect the ethos and values of Keswick School where hard work and perseverance are aspired to by everyone”.
Justine Mason, Principal Designate at Hele’s School, has praised his students and staff for continuing to excel despite the increased difficulties of achieving a pass.
Up to 36 per cent of the grades achieved were A*- A, and 88 per cent were A*-C.
The English and maths results are particularly impressive, with 84 per cent of pupils achieving A* – C in English and 85 per cent of pupils achieving A*-C in maths.
Essex County Council is congratulating thousands of Essex pupils who have collected their GCSE results.
“A fantastic 91 percent of all grades at A* – C”.
Among the other high achievers was Briony Richards, 16, whose grades were all A* or A – something which made her tearful as she opened her results.
Female students are also still well ahead of their male classmates in terms of GCSE performance, with 82.2 per cent of all female entries in Northern Ireland gaining a C grade or higher, up 0.5 percentage points on past year.
Steve Cronin, head of Year 11, added: “I’m just incredibly pleased that they have achieved what they need to move on to the next step, and for many that means staying on with us in the Sixth Form. We will continue to support our schools as together we aspire to achieve educational excellence for young people in Wrexham”.
