Liverpool talks over £8m star, Pedro’s Manchester blast, Spurs — Transfer News
In a recent poll on the site, 57% of participating Liverpool fans voted against the sale of Lucas Leiva, but Brendan Rodgers is seemingly dead set on dumping the Brazilian midfielder, and it appears that Besiktas are in pole-position to seal the deal.
The Brazilian midfielder has been consistently linked with a move away from Liverpool since January, with Inter believed to be his primary suitors. The 28-year-old has two years to run on his contract.
However, the sticking point could be the nature of the deal with Besiktas keen on a loan arrangement while Liverpool would prefer to sell and value the midfielder at around £5million. “Lucas is among our transfer targets, as we knew he was not in Brendan Rodgers’ plans for the new season”.
“An agreement is yet to be reached however we should have an outcome within 24 hours,” Bulut told Radyospor. “The negotiations continue, and we expect Lucas will be wearing the black and white soon”.
The head of Besiktas’ transfer committee, Erdal Torunogullari, confirmed that Lucas is on their shortlist and that talks are ongoing – whilst a member of the board, Erol Kaynar, added that a loan deal could be concluded within the next few days. Taken together, it’s clear the Turkish side are confident not only that they can land Lucas, but that they can get him on loan, with a purchase option likely but not mandatory.
