Former Detroit Lion Erik Kramer alive after reported suicide attempt
Kramer reportedly shot himself in a Los Angeles-area hotel and was found by L.A. County sheriff’s deputies around 8 p.m. Tuesday night with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Marshawn and Erik Kramer officially divorced in 2010 due to Erik’s depression, she said.
“He is not the same man I married”, Marshawn Kramer told the network. Dillon’s brother, Griffen, was an 18-year-old high school quarterback when he died of a drug overdose in 2011. His ex-wife told TMZ that Kramer had battled depression ever since retiring, “which she believes is a direct result of the hits he took during his time in the league”. “This is a brain injury”. He played in the NFL for 13 seasons, retiring in 1999. Later, he joined the Chicago Bears, where he still holds the team’s single-season records for passing yards (3,838) and touchdowns (29).
Erik Kramer, an ex-NFL quarterback, has suffered injuries after what appears to be a failed suicide attempt. Seau committed suicide in May of 2012 and was later shown to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, a brain disease that can lead to dementia, memory loss and depression.
“It has not been easy”, Erik Kramer told the Chicago Tribune in 2012.
Kramer, who is from Burbank, Calif., came to N.C. State after two years at a California junior college.
The incident comes at a time when the NFL is grappling with growing concerns over the lasting health effects of football-related head injuries. He played one year for the San Diego Chargers before retiring.
