Want a Jolla Tablet? You can now pre-order one for $299
Finnish manufacturer Jolla has officially started taking pre-orders for its first tablet, several months after it launched a campaign on Indiegogo to raise funds for the product. And while Sailfish OS doesn’t exactly have a huge chunk of the mobile market, its ability to run Android apps means that it’s got a pretty wide selection of apps available to it. The one thing about the Jolla Tablet that could be a bit iffy for some folks is its pricing, which puts it up against premium iOS and Android models.
For those interested, the Jolla Tablet is available to preorder in two storage variants, 32GB and 64GB. The Jolla Tablet won the Best Tablet of MWC award presented by Trusted Reviews and also received lots of positive attention from the worldwide media and the conference attendees. In the meantime, Jolla announced that a new batch of tablets can now be directly pre-ordered via its official website.
The tablet has a 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom processor based on the Bay Trail design inside, running at 1.8GHz.
Jolla’s fully gesture-based mobile operating system Sailfish OS 2.0 is the heart of the Jolla Tablet. Sailfish OS also lets you run Android apps after downloading them from the Jolla Store or “different Android app marketplaces”.
There is little doubting that Android is the largest OS around.
The company says that it’s “super excited” to open pre-order sales of the Jolla Tablet today, though it’s only available in limited quantities so those who really want one shouldn’t waste any time in placing their order. The 32GB version will set you back €267 while the 64GB version is now priced at €299. In terms of the pre-order country availability, the listing states that anyone from EU, Norway, Switzerland, United States, Canada, Australia, India and Hong Kong can order.
The Jolla Tablet will begin shipping at the end of October.
