Flash flood watch issued for Lehigh Valley region
The National Weather Service had no reports of significant floods in the area, but is looking further into the matter, Nelson said.
Excessive runoff could produce flash flooding, even in areas where heavy rain is not occurring. TranStar is now reporting that high water has closed three of the frontage road lanes on the Hardy Toll Road southbound near Crosstimbers.
This advisory may need to be extended if heavy rain persists.
The storms will make for hard travel for over the next couple hours.
EFFECTS: At 6:30 p.m., radar showed heavy rain still affecting windward areas from Hana to Huelo and near Honokohau.
Update, 12:31 p.m.
Flash flood warnings were also issued for Cook, Will, Lake and DuPage counties at 8 p.m. August. 18 and sirens could be heard in several local communities.
An additional one inch of rain is predicted for the area, and could result in flooding.
The high today will be 81 and the low later on will be 62.
More unsettled weather will continue into Wednesday and until the end of the week with lots of moisture in place to fire up showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. There’s a 60 percent chance of thunderstorm activity.
