CEO Marcelo Claure profanely defends Sprint vs. T-Mobile’s John Legere
“Your cheap misleading lease imitation is a joke”, he added.
A Sprint rep says Claure was merely calling attention to the fact that Sprint “offers real simplicity”, as the Journal puts it. But Legere shows no signs of wanting to make up.
We caught up with Rob Enderle, principal analyst at the Enderle Group, to get his thoughts on the rapid-fire media war between the strong-willed CEOs.
To be fair, John Legere has made a policy of trolling his competition.
This time, however, Sprint CEO Marco Claure had apparently had enough, and he posted a string of responses arguing that T-Mobile’s Uncarrier initiatives are “bulls**t” and that T-Mobile is “worse than the other two carriers together”.
But Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure and T-Mobile CEO John Legere’s Twitter feud has escalated in recent days, just about a month after the ex- wished the latter “Happy Birthday” via the microblogging site.
Thus far, under its so-called “Uncarrier” plans, which were first introduced in March 2013, T-Mobile has give customers the ability to buy a smartphone from the company, without the usual hassles associated with long-term service contracts.
Clearly, he’s right. But was there something in particular that caused the sudden sparring match in technology headlines? But both men had some choice words to say to each other.
Enderle may be on to something. Not only Sprint, even Verizon and AT&T were at the receiving end of Legere’s diatribe. Here though, this is going to be a situation of “wait and see”, to understand how this will play out and what role this Twitter argument, really will have for T-Mobile and Sprint. “They stand on their own”.
