Netflix Could Be Saving Users From 130 Hours Of Commercials Per Year
There’s nothing more refreshing than jumping into a TV show on Netflix. Your show just starts, and it doesn’t stop playing until its over.
Not only has Netflix made our lives more fulfilling (and quotable) with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, and Orange Is the New Black, it’s also prevented us from watching the same three beer commercials nine times an hour. The results are incredible.
Using that second number and the average amount of programming watched by a Netflix user per day would mean that the average user is being saved a whopping 130 hours worth of time by not having to sit through commercials during their binge.
To arrive at the answer, the amount of time spent by an average user in streaming Netflix on a daily basis has been multiplied with the average time ads are aired during a normal one-hour broadcast. In addition, Nielsen says that an hour of traditional TV has about 15.5 minutes of commercials. This means that 5.4 days of advertisements are being avoided over an entire year. Helped the elderly walk across the street?
Its no surprise that Netflix is being used by more and more consumers to watch their favorite shows and movies.
Well, here’s another reason to cherish your Netflix account. No other service can compare!
With an extra 130-141 hours each year, maybe it’s time to use that time to go for a jog, read a book or paint a picture. It’s like a cable box, but worse.
