‘Route 29 Batman’ struck and killed by vehicle on Maryland freeway
Lenny B. Robinson had pulled his auto over on Interstate 71 in Maryland and got out to check his engine. As he did, a Toyota Camry struck his auto propelling the Batmobile into Robinson and killing him.
“He touched a lot of lives and made a lot of kids smile”, his brother, Scott Robinson, said.
“He always told the children how much he valued them and how good they were and that everything they did meant something”, she said.

Robinson, greets Pierre Williams of Sheraden (left) and Tyler Schivins of Shaler while visiting patients in Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. “It was evident that the officers and Robinson had a mutual respect for each other and the job that each was trying to accomplish that day”, the statement said.
“There will never be another Lenny Robinson“.
Following news of Route 29 Batman’s death, parents have begun posting photos and sharing stories online in memory of the hero who visited their kids in hospital.
Tragically, Robinson was killed late Sunday night when his Lamborghini stalled “partially in the fast lane,” due to engine failure. The crash is under investigation, but criminal charges have not been filed against the driver of the Camry.
Mr Robinson, 51, made his fortune after selling his cleaning business, but decided he didn’t like the “obnoxious” person he had become, so decided to dedicate his life to making children happy. Robinson traded the Lamborghini for the Batmobile later that year.
The Post revealed Batman’s identity to the world in 2012, after Robinson was pulled over in Silver Spring, Maryland, in his Lamborghini and full superhero costume. She said he called every year on her son’s birthday.
As reported by the Washington Post, Robinson was returning from a vehicle show in West Virginia in a custom-made Batmobile when the accident occurred.
