Giants notes: Victor Cruz’s setback no big concern
Three years later it was Deja vu for Big Blue as Odell Beckham became the latest Toast of New York as Cruz suffered a season-ending injury.
“No, not at all, ” Coughlin said. “Then I feel like the game stuff will come”.
Victor Cruz’s comeback from surgery 10 months ago to fix the torn patellar tendon in his right knee has gone much smoother than expected.
Rueben Randle, the No. 3 receiver, has not practiced this week because of tendinitis in his knee, and the offensive line is still looking for its best five. Could Selvie practice Thursday?
“I knew that the journey is long and hard”. However, natural tendency has us wondering if Cruz is perhaps a bit jealous at being bumped off the top spot of the Giants’ receiving core for the new kid in town. “Whether it be out here on the field or with my body, but I’m excited that it’s not something that’s major”.
Coughlin did admit to concern with practice time missed by receivers, Randle in particular. “It’s something I can get over, and something that’s not going to be a huge hindrance”. Unless we get out there and practice together, what passing game? “So that’s something that has to be considered”, Coughlin said. “But we certainly aren’t cohesive with the other guys, either”.
“Last year his special teams were outstanding”. Most of the time, he knows whether to expect the ball.
“You want to go out there in real-time action and get some good, solid work in with everyone else and everyone ready to go, but that’s not always the case”, Cruz said Thursday.
