Suspect shot by police in West Bloomfield after chase through Macomb, Oakland
A representative from the Bloomfield Hills Police Department said there would be no further comment until the investigation is concluded.
A parole absconder has been killed after leading police on a cross-county chase late Wednesday into early Thursday.
Noel Clason said the pursuit began just before midnight near 12 Mile and Mound roads when Warren police began chasing a man for violating his parole and making threats with a firearm. The man got out and ran off, firing shots at the officers. Investigators believe both Bloomfield Hills and Warren officers fired their weapons.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Warren Police Department along with Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
In addition to dashcam video from patrol cars, the investigators were interviewing witnesses, including the other motorist, who suffered minor injuries. Police say his name is not being released at this time.
A short distance from the accident, the suspect pointed a handgun at officers and he was fatally shot at the scene. Autopsy results were not immediately available.
The 24-year-old, Deviere Ernel Ransom, had been convicted in Macomb County for assault by strangulation or suffocation, the paper says.
