Eric Fisher: Chiefs LT Eric Fisher carted off in practice
It’s not a given that Fisher’s injury is serious, but “cart” and “MRI” are never a good combination.
Left tackle Eric Fisher limped off the field Monday during a 9-on-7 drill and was taken to the trainer’s tent, where team personnel removed his left cleat.
Reid also said receiver De’Anthony Thomas (calf sprain), inside linebacker Josh Mauga (heel) and safety Sanders Commings (knee inflammation) are questionable. Peters has shown an ability to make plays, which will be critical, since he’s expected to play a bunch in the team’s first two regular season games.
Monday morning, the Chiefs put on the pads, less than 48 hours after wrapping up their first preseason game. Duvernay-Tardif and Fulton are regarded as the front-runners, and Fulton started Saturday’s game. Mitch Morse has taken over at center and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has been working out at guard. He’s not short on opportunities out here.
Andy Reid wasn’t sure on Sunday what he would be doing with his offensive line this week before their second preseason game. “But I think I need to work on the basic stuff like my hand placement and (keeping) my head up”.
“By the time you get to your third (preseason) week and your starters are playing a lot, three quarters, you should have that ironed out”, Pederson said.
If he can find a way to get there, it will be a boon for a line that remains in flux, in part because of injuries, though Reid can see progress. “(But) I’m getting a lot better.
