Search for Jayde Kendall continues week on
The development came after police on Tuesday interviewed and released a man who had picked up Jayde, 16, from Lockyer District High School on Highview Ave on Friday about 3.15pm.
But they say he is a person of interest rather than a suspect and she got in the auto out of her “own free will”.
Jayde was last seen at her school and was spotted getting into a red motorvehicle.
Crews have searched bushland off a service road near the Warrego Highway after a passerby found a personal item belonging to the 16-year-old.
The search into a 16-year-old girl who has been missing for a week is expected to turn into a murder investigation after a piece of clothing belonging to missing teenager Jayde Kendall was found.
‘[The boy] apparently attended her school, he’s a few years older and had known her through mutual contacts at her workplace, ‘ Detective Inspector Isherwood told the Sunshine Coast Daily.
Detectives have also seized mobile phones from school friends and colleagues from the McDonalds where she worked, for any clues into her disappearance.
“As time goes on, you’ve got to be realistic”, Detective Inspector David Isherwood said. “No information has come forward that would say they were in those particular locations apart from CCTV footage that does put the vehicle in the Gatton CBD itself”.

Photos of a red auto that a missing Queensland teen was last seen getting into have been released as police ramp up efforts to find her.
“We can’t confirm the version of events given by the driver is correct, nor can we confirm it’s incorrect”, he said.
He said the behaviour was out of character for Jayde.
However, he said there was no evidence to suggest the teen had ran away or that she had left Gatton.
Insp Isherwood said that various rumours circulating on social media were false and “garbage”.

The driver is described as Caucasian, 180cm tall with a medium build and dark hair, and possibly wearing a dark-coloured top.
