New Hyundai Elantra teased
Design influenced by Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0.
The 2017 Elantra will be more tech-focused than ever.
The 2016 Hyundai Elantra has been confirmed for an Australian launch next year, where it will continue it potent double act with the just-updated Hyundai i30 hatch. It’s expected to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
In fact, if you combine sales of the i30 and current Elantra, Hyundai has sold 23,333 small cars so far in 2015, which is actually more than the Mazda 3 hatch and sedan’s combined total of 23,252, and thereby behind only the Corolla (25,323), which reigns as Australia’s top-selling vehicle. It could have a drag coefficient of 0.27 Cd.
Hyundai officials claim the style of the new Elantra places the Korean compact saloon “in a class of its own”. Its fuel consumption is speculated to be 18.28 kmpl for the highway. The headlights are much longer and angled and the front is definitely sporting the signature Hyundai design language that we’ve seen before.
Although Hyundai asserts that participants in a consumer study who evaluated the new designed deemed it to be better than its rivals, our jury is still out. Most models will come with an eight-inch touch screen that will be compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Some of the other features will include an 8-inch touchscreen display, sound system by Infinity, two USB outlets, front and rear heated seats, and start/stop button. Buyers will be able to order the auto with electronic driving aids like blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
