Brittany Pilkington Confesses To Killing 3 Sons To ‘Protect’ Daughter
When police questioned her, at first, the 23-year-old mother said she believed that genetics were behind the deaths of all three boys. Brittany Pilkington of Bellefontaine gave a shocking confession to authorities about how she suffocated her children, 3-month- old Naill, and 4-year old, Gavin and another 3 -month-old son Noah.The most recent of This shocking event came to light early Tuesday morning in April when Brittany called 911 to report her younger’s son inability to breath. No defense lawyer has been named.
Brittany Pilkington appeared briefly Thursday in Bellefontaine (behl-FOWN’-tihn) Municipal Court but didn’t speak.
“Everybody that is involved in this is truly emotionally distraught including myself, quite honestly and it isn’t because the system failed”, Goslee said. As there was not enough proof to determine the cause of the boys’ death, the surviving kids were returned to the Pilkingtons.
Then on Tuesday, Noah was dead as well.
“When the autopsy comes back as undetermined”, he said, “our hands are tied”.
“In her mind, she was protecting her daughter from being not as loved as the boys were by their father”, Goslee said to the Columbus Dispatch.
Melanie Engle, executive director of Logan County Children’s Services, said the agency pushed as hard as it could, and called for state law to be changed to make intervention easier in cases of multiple deaths. But Cummins, 41, said he never harmed his daughter.
“The tragic deaths of Niall, Gavin and Noah leave a pit in our stomachs today”, police Chief Brandon K. Standley said in a statement. “She said they grilled her for 12 hours and that she told them she didn’t do it”. “I told them I didn’t do it, ‘” Cummins said.
Goslee said Pilkington was dominated and isolated by her 43-year-old husband, Joseph Pilkington, who had been her own mother’s live-in boyfriend before marrying Brittany in 2010.
